The Need
The work of International Justice Mission is growing and the need for qualified individuals to carry out the mission is following suit. (IJM) is seeking an Aftercare Manager to carry out the responsibilities below, based out of the IJM Chennai Field Office with significant travel across India. The qualified candidate must have proven relationship management skills, be able to evidence leadership skills, and demonstrate knowledge of bonded labour casework including information gathering, documenting facts, and developing comprehensive aftercare strategies for victims of forced labour. This position is based at IJM Chennai and will report directly to the Director of Aftercare.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive aftercare strategy for the forced labourers (clients) released by IJM;
- Prepare for and execute meetings with individual clients, their families and their communities to assess their needs and circumstances;
- Travel extensively to meet clients and facilitate their needs towards sustainable livelihoods;
- Travel to meet with clients, conducted home visits, organize and lead Freedom Trainings;
- Plan, carry out, review and evaluate social work practices with the clients;
- Manage risk to individual clients, clients' families and communities, and Manager's colleagues and self;
- Support clients by representing their needs, views and circumstances;
- Demonstrate the ethics of Social Work Practice in all interactions;
- Act as a community liaison for IJM throughout South and Central India and develop and maintain strong relationships with government leaders and NGOs;
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information;
- Participate in prosecutions by serving as a complainant or witness when needed;
- Organize and maintain detailed records of aftercare information; and
- Carry out an additional portfolio of assignments as given by the Director of Aftercare.
Required Skills and Experience
- Master's Degree in Social Work;
- Relevant work experience;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office;
- Strong Communication Skills;
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Hindi. Ability to speak and write Telugu, Tamil and Kannada preferred; and
- Knowledge and experience with various government social service programs; and NGOs working across India.

The Mission
International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to ensure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to promote functioning public justice systems.
