POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Assistant Director Policy

Professor, IFMR & Research Director, IFMR Research Functions Liaising With

CHALLENGES:
• Reaching out and
convincing relevant stakeholders (policy makers and donors)
• Build visibility,
brand and awareness of IFMR Research among stakeholders
• Coordinating with
research heads who are based out of the IFMR Campus in Chennai
• Working in a
dynamic environment requiring flexibility and comfort with ambiguity
• Working at varying
levels and on different initiatives simultaneously
ROLES &
RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibilities:
Assistant Director
Policy Impact and Development is expected to:
Outreach &
Dissemination
Work closely with the Executive Director for designing and
supervising IFMR Research outreach efforts (meetings, conferences,
presentations to important sector stake holders);
Identify, develop, and manage the various relevant
outreach strategies for each stakeholder to efficiently promote IFMR Research;
Build visibility, brand and awareness of IFMR Research
among stakeholders (local and international);
Help identify
sectoral knowledge gaps.
Fundraising
Assist in identifying relevant donor agencies for core
funding as well as working in collaboration with the Research Centres to
identify funding sources for their activities;
Assist in the
development and administration of global fundraising plans and schedules;
Assist in the
development and administration of fundraising tools, collateral, marketing and
support materials – both print and electronic – to support fundraising goals.
COMPETENCIES &
SOFT SKILLS Must Haves:
• Educational
Qualification: Graduate/ Postgraduate with very strong interest in research and
development issues (work experience in the field is desirable)
• Minimum 7 years’ of
relevant experience interacting with senior Indian policy makers and industry
regulators.
• Significant work
experience in fundraising, marketing and communication or other relevant field;
• Superior oral and
written communications skills and ability to effectively understand and
communicate complex information with different audiences;
• Strong
interpersonal and relationship building skills with demonstrated ability to
engage and influence others;
• Knowledge and
experience of the various marketing activities and their effectiveness on the
stakeholders;
Personal Attributes:
• Energetic
self-starter with the ability to excel in working both independently and as
part of a highly collaborative and dynamic environment requiring flexibility
and comfort with ambiguity;
• Ability to take
initiative to move complex processes forward to achieve articulated results;
and work at varying levels and on different initiatives simultaneously (in
particular personal organization and ability for multitasking);
Travel:
• Ability to travel
approximately 5-7 days per month.
