Background / General description:
HRD Shared Services Operations (HRSSO), which is part of HRD Shared Services Delivery, currently operates in Washington, DC and Chennai, India.

HRDSO provides centralized HR shared services to the World Bank Group and is an integral component of streamlined HR service delivery to its client base which includes managers, staff and retirees. To this end, the Operations Team is continually seeking to improve the way HR Services are delivered to clients. These services include being the front line for providing Tier 1 support and Tier 2 consultation on HR policies and procedures via telephone, email or walk-in visits to the Washington, DC office, as well as administration of HR transactions. The team collaborates closely with other key partners including Payroll, Tax, Global Mobility, and the HR Officer community.

HR as a business within the WBG, is highly dependent on continuous systems investments. The current systems landscape includes PeopleSoft, an enterprise-level transactional and database system (also referred to as Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP - equivalent to SAP for Financials) and its major subsystems (Compensation, Payroll, and Pension); major HR applications such as Performance Management (OPE/PEP), Recruitment (MyJobWorld), Self-Service (HR Kiosk and HR Actions), Learning (LMS), Succession Planning (eTalent); and another 20+ add-on applications.

The technology and reporting team is seeking to engage a senior Business Objects Developer to develop the Business Object Universes, Reports, Dashboards and Explorer and integrate with existing applications. The successful candidate should have extensive experience using Business Objects version XI R4 to provide support for users in production, test, and development environments.

This position requires flexibility, creativity and initiative. Candidates should be self-starters and team players who enjoy working with an international team, be able to multi-task their workload assignments, be fluent in spoken and written English and have strong writing and communication skills.

Note:

If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 2 year term appointment.

Duties and Accountabilities:

  •     Facilitate end user requirements and working sessions.
  •     Synthesize the analysis work with the characteristics of the existing data warehouse (internally defined as the 'Operational Data Store') and reporting infrastructure, to derive the appropriate technical approach for data storage, mining and dissemination.
  •     Collaborate with universe developers to design BO reporting universes - this requires understanding of contexts, aggregate awareness and universe linking and integration of data.
  •     Work with end users to create reporting templates and mock ups.
  •     Debug and solve problems by tracing from the report all the way to the source.
  •     Rotate and work different hours to support 24/7 support for data loads and any development activities (morning, afternoon and evening shifts).

Selection Criteria:

  •     Business Objects Development experience with XI 4.0 Web Intelligence report creation experience and Crystal Reports 2008.
  •     Strong knowledge of SQL to analyze and asses the generated SQL from a Webi Report.
  •     Strong understanding of managing security within the CMC.
  •     Strong report development background using Webi and Webi Rich client.
  •     Business Objects Developer with XI 4.0 Web Intelligence report creation experience and Crystal Reports 2008.
  •     Proven ability to serve as a Technical Developer responsible for delivering solutions and meeting business needs.
  •     Strong analytical, problem-identification/solving skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  •     Strong understanding of Business Objects Integration with SAP and release of latest suite of tools.
  •     Working knowledge of business Objects client tools (Universe designer, Information Manager, Xcelsius, Explorer, Webi and Crystal Reports.)
  •     Strong knowledge of Business Objects SDK with JAVA and JSF knowledge.
  •     Knowledge on BW Architecture and Reporting (Cubes, DSO's, Bex Analyzer and Workbooks).
  •     Experience creating universes against SAP BW OLAP sources.
  •     Ability to understand the MDX generated from SAP BW OLAP source.
  •     Hands on experience on the usage of latest SAP BO suite of tools.
  •     Hands on knowledge of building dashboards and providing mock up designs.
