The International Finance Corporation, headquartered at Washington D.C.,USA, is the private sector
investment arm of the World Bank Group. Established in 1956, IFC's mission is
to promote private sector investments in developing countries to reduce poverty
and improve people's lives. IFC offers a full array of financial products and
services to companies in its developing member countries, through long term
loans, equity investments, guarantees and advice. The Agribusiness,
Manufacturing, Health and Education sector team is recruiting an Investment
Analyst to be based in its Mumbai office. Analyst work closely with Investment
Officers, who are responsible for business development, project design,
negotiation and subsequent supervision of the Corporation's investment projects.
The primary responsibilities and overall profile required for this position are
as given below.
Duties and Accountabilities
Investment Analyst assists Investment Officers in all
aspects of their work including but not limited to:
- Conduct industry and market research and assist IFC's business development and portfolio management efforts.
- Review company information and prepare reports on periodic financial statements, project progress reports and other information submitted by clients.
- Participate in all phases of an investment project life cycle, including structuring, negotiation, internal approval and closing
- Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes
- Create financial models, analyse historical and projected financial statements.
- Track the operational and financial performance of IFC's portfolio clients, including compliance with IFC's agreements
- Preparing supervision documents.
- Perform credit reviews and valuations of equity investments and loan instruments
- Prepare documents required for IFC's investments, including project proposals and term sheets
- Participating in investment negotiations Analyst also assists the division managers in the preparation of:
- Country investment strategy papers
- Briefs for visits by high-level IFC staff
- Project profiles for trust funds assistance
- Other tasks assigned by the Manager
Selection Criteria
- Minimum requirement is a recent undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related specialty, typically with additional professional experience of 1-2 years.
- Sound analytical and conceptual skills encompassing finance and the associated areas of financial investment, portfolio management, corporate finance and economics.
- The ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently in English.
- Aptitude in basic financial software applications (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and the ability to quickly learn new applications.
- A keen interest in development finance and in working in a multicultural environment. Investment Analyst is expected to work for 2 to 4 year terms, up to a maximum of 4 years. No Paper mail and faxes please.
